The drive is long but largely wide open. The Grapevine and the winter passes set the tempo. Tejon drags in heat and seals up in a blow, and deep into winter the Sierra and the Tahoe corridors stack up with snow and chain controls, so we route down the Valley and across the desert to steer well clear of the worst, and the set figure holds steady no matter the road. That desert leg of 15 turns hot and empty, so we plan fuel stops and rest and refuse to push a fatigued haul. At the Nevada end, the Strip-adjacent towers and many newer condo buildings want a certificate filed with management plus a reserved freight car, which our staff arranges through the building before the day. Off Silicon Valley, the wired equipment gets crated, so monitors, a desktop tower, a small rack, or framed art are handled with care the length of the haul.
